Eva has been tattooing for more than 8 years and is currently working full-time at Andy “Tattoo Andy” Barrett’s first self-opened studio, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades Tattoo. She’s originally from Buffalo, New York, and got her first start working for an “ex-member” of a somewhat notorious motorcycle club. He had Eva taking apart and building machines, tiling the floors, and painting the walls to get the doors open to the public.
However, the man who taught Eva everything she knows about tattooing is David Catillano. He helped her learn the value and ultimate charm of a “real tattoo,” while also getting her to like bands like The Clash, James Brown, and others. He’d even sneak Eva into places downtown to show her how to properly handle a drink.
Eva’s Tattooing Experiences
David wears Eva’s first tattoo, which is an outline of a fly. She was 19 when she made this tattoo. After a little more than 1 year, Eva jumped from shop to shop until she found work at Cory Cudney’s shop, Divine Machine Tattoo. After working with Cory and the friends she made there, she accepted a job offer at Off the Map Tattoo in Easthampton, Massachusetts. She was there for a little more than 1 year when she heard “Tattoo Andy” was opening up.
A Word from Eva
I have been an artist my entire life and have dabbled in all medias. Tattooing is one of the oldest and most primitive art forms. As an artist, it’s great to know myself and be comfortable in my skin. This allows me to be creative with my passion-tattooing.
