If you’re a big fan of ink and and also love fitness (and, not to mention, looking fantastic), then here’s someone who should totally be gracing your feed. John Romaniello is the New York Times bestselling author of Man 2.0: Engineering the Alpha , as well as a self-proclaimed ‘dichotomous nerd’, ‘unapologetic bro’, ‘comic book connoisseur’, and ‘ice cream advocate’.

Roman is the creator of Roman Fitness Systems , a fitness-meets-science training company. Roman offers the option to “Make People Hot” or “Get People Huge”, two epic-sounding options if you ask me. I mean, it’s cool if you’d rather chill out, but I want some killer abs and Roman is the guy who’ll get me to the promised land.

The man isn’t all brawn and looks though. He’s writen for publications like Men’s Health and Fast Company. He’s an advisor and angel investor in several companies and he has a hillarious nerdy/cocky sense of humor that, ironically enough, pushes you through the insane workout regimens he’s created.

And screw all these pretentious gym selfies, John does not play that shit. He’s more ‘work-your-ass-off’ rather than ‘30-minute-work-out-then-30-minute-selfie’ type of guy. But we do appreciate the occasional dapper sélfies.

Aside from everything else you should be looking forward from this guy, his latest Social Media feature is a weekly post on Instagram called #TattooTuesday where he shows off his extensive collection of ink and some fun meanings behind the unique tattoos. Here are some of the best ones!

“The ship and the words at each of the four “corners” of the circle (Separation, Descent, Initiation, Return) are representative of Joseph Campbell ‘s model of the Hero’s Journey. The background image of the circle is from Brand New ‘s “Déjà Entendu “—the greatest indie rock album of all time.”

“Ignore the ink, focus on the skin. What you see, in negative, are the horns of House Baratheon. Because in addition to just liking the aesthetic of antlers, I also happen to have all the skills necessary to wield a war hammer, grow a sick beard, and conquer the Seven Kingdoms. And then eventually die as a direct result of my vices.”

“In negative on the back of my upper arm is the silhouette of Long Island. Paumanok. The great fish. Li is a truly special place: land of late night drives, basement shows, Billy Joel, the perfect bagel, and—not last—my home. I fervently believe there is no better place in the world to grow up; having this negative space on my arm is my small homage to the wonderful experiences I had here, and pays tribute to the things I’ve left behind as I’ve moved forward–and having it surrounded by so much vibrant color reminds me all the amazing things I’ve filled my life with in that process. I put this piece on the back of my arm so it’s with me, but behind me,” he wrote.

#tattootuesday update! I’ve been getting asked for the full sleeve; this quick video shows the majority of it, and focuses on the main feature of the piece, which is my little bumblebee friends. I get asked about these ALL the time. So, here goes… The legend of the bumblebee states that, aerodynamically speaking, bumblebees should not be able to fly; their wingspan isn’t long enough to create the thrust necessary to lift their bulk. (This has been proven to be scientifically inaccurate, but stick with me here.) As the saying goes, “the bumblebee flies anyway.” What the bee does not know to be impossible, becomes possible. So. I have one bee for each “impossible” thing I’ve achieved—either something I personally believed I would never be able to do, OR something people told me specifically could NOT be done. To date, I’ve hit 6 things that fit that criteria. This fits in very well with one of my favorite Lewis Carroll quotes, from Through the Looking Glass. When Alice asserts to the Queen that one *can’t* believe impossible things, the Queen replies, “‘I daresay you haven’t had much practice…why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.’” As to the meanings of the individual bees…that’s something I play pretty close to the vest. All I’ll say is that 3 of them are business/achievement related, and 3 are more related to my personal life. Careful observes will note there are 7 bumblebees. I decided, in a moment of ambitious foresight (or unjustifiable hubris) to add an extra bumblebee. Because fuck it; I’m just not done proving people wrong yet. The video also gives you a really good look at all of the beautiful #watercolortattoo work @thejorell has done. From the roses to the peacock feather to the ship (not pictured), he’s taken traditional imagery and put a gorgeous modern spin on it. I love the art so much. #tattedup #sleevework #sleevetatoo #sleevedout #tattoolife #inkedup #watercolor #radiantink #inkaddict #nationaltattoostoryday

When he’s not working out or doing #TattooTuesday, he likes to chill with his dearest bulldog, Khaleesi. Yes, it’s Khaleesi. Ain’t she a little stunner.

Did we mention that he has this insane crush on Mistah J ‘s girl, Harley Quinn ? And more, the guy listens to Brand New . This man knows his jam. He totally seems like the kind of guy we’d get along with.

Still don’t get what’s the deal with this man? Well, for one, he’s responsible for making this happen.
